Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Adulina Washed

Silky bodied, super sweet and clean with floral notes, candied ginger, melon, and orange citrus.  Pulled as an espresso this Adulina lot is a tangy, candy-like treat.  We are in love!  This cups very strongly along side some incredible small lot Ethiopian coffees, and unlike the small lot coffees, has a great price point.  Enjoy!

Details

From the birthplace of coffee, we are in love with this outstanding Yirgacheffe offering.

Many Ethiopian coffees are dried in the sun after picking with the fruity flesh of the coffee cherry still attached (called natural coffee). Natural processing can impart intense wild fruit and earthy flavors.

In this Ethiopian lot, however, the fruit was removed early in the process and fermented in tanks of using water (called a washed coffee) which resulted in a silky bodied coffee that is super sweet and clean with floral notes, candied ginger, melon, and orange citrus.  Pulled as an espresso this Adulina lot is a tangy, nectar-like candy treat.  We are in love!

    Sweet, sweet, sweet

Review by CoffeeBear on November 15, 2014

This is one of the smoothest tasting coffees I have ever had the good fortune to taste. It also has a wonderfully sweet component to the flavor that we love. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

    Subtle, tea like and complex

Review by Dan on September 29, 2014

This coffee catches you by the nose after you grind it. It smells like a delicate tea. When the water hits, it gives a floral fragrance that is just lovely. The first sip confirms the tea smell your nose found, but then the fun begins. It is bright and dances on the tongue. This is not a fruity Ethiopian coffee, rather it is a gentle coffee with which to greet the day.

    Candy is right

    Review by Will_H on March 4, 2014

Bought a bag of the natural [Yirgacheffe] Konga and this washed [Yirgacheffe] Adulina to compare. Both are superb and unique coffees and fun to taste the difference between a washed and natural side by side. The adulina when used as an espresso is super sweet like candy with an orange zest and fruit.

    Outstanding!

Review by John K. on August 10, 2012

We received a bag with our Bonavita order and were immediately delighted to see that the Yirgacheffe was roasted on the very day it shipped with our new coffeemaker. The exploits of the Bonavita are already well known so we'll cut right to the chase. What an incredible coffee. The Venia tasting notes are quite accurate. It's a perfect balance of smooth body, subtle chocolate notes and layers of multidimensional flavor and character. Like a great wine, the finish goes on and on but ever sweet and harmoniously integrated. WOW!
