Tasting Notes:

-Medium Roast.

-Wonderfully refined and gently pungent.  Rich, syrupy  sweet, and refreshingly bright.

-Toffee, earth, and cocoa give way to an amazing marion berry compote that lingers on the palate.

Information:

Size: 12 Ounce Bag with Degassing Valve

Origin:  Indonesia, North Sumatra, Aceh, Takengon

Town: Desa Kerawat

Producer: Small Farm

Cultivar:  Ateng, Typica, Djember

Elevation: 1350-1500 Meters

Process:  Semi-Washed / Wet Hulled / Sun Dried on Patio

Suggested Brewing Methods:

If you like a big, bold, strong coffee in the morning, this does great in auto drip coffee makers and shines in the Bonavita BV1800 with its temperature controlled brewing cycle.  Performs wonderfully in the french press and Aeropress.  It pulls a very thick and sweet espresso, so syrupy that we recommend a few ounces of steamed milk, mocchiato style.

This 'Red Badger' Sumatra is absolutely the tops in the Sumatra world. I could go on and on, about tasting notes, but I'm getting back to mine. Do try this!

    Really liked it.

Review by Trin on September 30, 2015

We really liked this coffee when we got it a year ago, so happy it is back. Bold and strong but not burnt like Starbucks. Very pleased with every coffee we have tried from you. Great job.

    Wonderful cup after cup

Review by Dan on March 26, 2013

This review is for my second order of Sumatra Aceh Takengon. I always feel a bit of trepidation to order a coffee a second time even if I love it because things can vary and ruin your earlier impression. That is not the case here. I love this coffee. It has a bit of smokiness in the first sip, but it is juicy and pretty bright too. It has an earthy finish that lingers on the palette and, like nearly everything in life, pairs nicely with chocolate desserts. I find the flavors are better in a pourover than in my drip maker, but I like it both ways. When I finish my current two bags, I think I will give it another chance. So good. Such a special coffee. Price is mentioned below, and hats off to Venia for lowering the per bag price when you order two. Win win.

    An amazing, spicy suprise

Review by Dan on March 1, 2013

I spent the summer in love with natural process Ethiopian fruit bombs. I read reviews of this coffee and have to say I was enticed. I am so glad I was. This coffee grabs your taste buds and never lets go. It has a spice like a red Zinfindal wine and a complexity to match. As it cools, it becomes smooth and somewhat carmel like. I am in love with this coffee
